Zain partners with 9th Kuwait Women Conference and Regional Symposium

Under patronage and presence of H.H. Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mariam Al Aqeel

Zain, the leading digital service provider in Kuwait, announced its partnership of the 9th Annual Kuwait Women Conference and Regional Symposium: Implementing SDG5 Challenges and Approaches. The conference, organized by Kuwait University’s Women’s Research and Studies Center (WRSC), is held during 11-13 November under the patronage of H.H. Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mariam Al Aqeel.

Zain took part in the event’s opening ceremony, which witnessed the presence of H.H. Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mariam Al Aqeel, Zain Kuwait’s Chief Executive Officer Eaman Al Roudhan, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development Dr. Khaled Mahdi, Director of the Women’s Research and Studies Center (WRSC) Dr. Lubna Al Kazi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Kuwait University Dr. Homoud Al Qashaan, Zain Kuwait’s Chief Human Resources Officer Nawal Bourisli, Zain Kuwait’s Chief Corporate Communications and Relations Officer Waleed Al Khashti, as well as many prominent figures, ex-ministers, academics, and representatives from the public and private sectors.

The 9th edition of the conference is co-organized by Kuwait University’s Women’s Research and Studies Center, the General Secretariat for the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Zain’s partnership comes to reflect its commitment in supporting the various efforts that highlight the importance of achieving women empowerment, gender equality, and inclusion in the workplace.

The 9th Annual Kuwait Women Conference and Regional Symposium mainly aims at discussing lessons learned and key elements of success that are crucial to overcome various policy and implementation bottlenecks to advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG5) in Kuwait and the region.

The conference will witness seminars, workshops, and panel discussions that will host many experts from UNDP, UN Women and the World Bank, as well as front-line practitioners from governments, civil society and the private sector to identify solutions for achieving gender equality through the implementation of the SDGs, including the use of innovation and technology towards global policy impact. The conference will also focus on the role the private sector can play in leading gender equality in the region.
