Developing our local community has always been Zain’s long-term, sustainable, strategic objective. By investing our efforts in key areas of society and targeting areas in need of development, Zain aims to make this world, A Wonderful World. Several aspects of society that Zain has invested in include, but are not limited to, education, health, youth development, and sports.

Education

Taaleb E-Learning Project

Taaleb is an award winning (Kuwait E-Award) student electronic portal, which links teachers, parents, and students of Kuwait together to improve overall communication between the school environment and the home environment. All entities can log on to the portal and review progress on issues relating to the classroom and any updates on school agendas.

More than 80 schools in the governorate of Hawally have succssfully implemented TAALEB as part of their school curriculum. There are currently almost 8,000 teachers registered on the Taaleb portal, and almost 12,000 parents registered to review their children’s progress via the portal.

 

 

Microsoft Imagine Cup 20124

Investing in technology and educating the youth is a primary goal of Zain. That is why in 2012, Zain partnered with Microsoft in its annual Imagine Cup technology competition, taking charge of the mobile development segment of the competition. Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world’s premier student technology competition eligible students utilized their imagination and passion to create a technology solution that addresses the Imagine Cup 2012 theme: Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems.

 

For the first time, Microsoft held the Imagine Cup Country Finals in Kuwait to select the winning team that represented Kuwait in the Worldwide Finals in Sydney, Australia. The top 5 teams from Kuwait presented their solutions to the world’s toughest problems battling it out for the ultimate Cup. Teams had ideas ranging from shipment tracking and monitoring, educational innovations, to health applications.

 

 

Health

Shoof Zain

Zain has previously been an advocate for individuals who are prone to avoidable blindness, and that is why Zain, partnered with the Kuwait University Community Eye Health Initiative (CEHI), established the Shoof Zain mobile eye unit (mobile clinic) van to screen patients and individuals, and carry out an on-the-spot rapid assessment for avoidable blindness (RAAB). CEHI which was established in 2006 to join the international vision 2020: the right to sight efforts to prevent avoidable blindness worldwide.

 

Zain Hospital

The establishment of Zain hospital to cater for ear, nose and throat cases in Kuwait, is a part of Zain’s on-going commitment to the local healthcare system.

 

CPR & First-Aid Training

As part of the national agenda for the next 5 years, Zain, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the American Heart Association, aim to train 10% of the local population on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, starting with its very own employees.

 

 

Breastcare Kuwait

Zain has taken upon itself to create a change in the mass behavior of the local population when it comes to breast cancer. Zain’s effective 5-year partnership with BreastCare Kuwait, focuses on bringing awareness to women on matters concerning breast cancer, and instigates a change in behavior in them by promoting a periodic check-up.

 

 

Youth

FUN Program

Future University Network – Zain’s own Future University Network (also known as FUN), is a sustainable youth tailored CSR program for students that bridges the gap between studies and a unique work experience at Zain.

This is achieved by recruiting the youth as the brand’s main ambassadors.

 

 

LOYAC

Zain has been partners with LOYAC for the past 9 years and has been a core contributor to the success and growth of the youth program; that has invested and developed a keen and well-spoken generation for the Kuwaiti future. LOYAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall development of the youth. Established in 2002, LOYAC provides programs for youth of age 6 – 28 years through its operations in Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon.

P2BK

As part of Zain’s partnerships with local youth development organizations is part of its strategic objectives in developing the youth.. For its 4th year, Zain is a proud partner & supporter of Proud 2 Be Kuwaiti (P2BK) P2BK is a Kuwaiti, non-profit organization founded to promote youth businesses and entrepreneurs. P2BK organizes a forum for all youth in Kuwait to meet up and interact in a business oriented environment; enabling larger companies to contribute helping smaller businesses grow professionally.

 

 

Zain Great Idea

Zain conducted a Nation-wide Business competition via a CSR “Zain Great Idea” Campaign that is related to the core business, designed to find the best and brightest business ideas.
